Stepping onto the grounds of Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women (IGDTUW) during the
March 2024 Ignite Sports Fest felt like entering a realm where athleticism and camaraderie converged in
a vibrant spectacle. From April 12th to April 14th, the campus transformed into a pulsating hub of
excitement, drawing in sports teams from far and wide for an unforgettable three-day extravaganza. The
event featured a range of competitive sports such as chess, cricket, volleyball, and basketball, each
with its own dedicated venue in the university campus. The energy and enthusiasm from participants and
spectators were palpable, creating an atmosphere of friendly competition.
The volleyball court shined as a stage for synchronized symphonies of teamwork, where each serves and
spike echoed with the determination of champions, whereas the basketball court crackled with
anticipation as dribbles, passes, and gravity-defying three-pointers unfolded in a mesmerizing display
of skill and strategy.
Over at the cricket pitch, batswoman wielded their willows like maestros conducting a symphony of
strokes. At the same time, bowlers unleashed thunderous deliveries that reverberated through the crowd,
captivating onlookers with every swing and miss. And last but not the least, the minds on the
chessboards collided in an intricate dance of strategy and wit, where each move was a strategic gambit
in a battle of intellectual prowess.
The sports fest was graced by esteemed chief guest Ms. Neha Singh, former international hockey player
and captain of Indian Women's Hockey Team in 2004, who provided inspiration and emphasized the values of
sportsmanship and teamwork. Her presence added prestige to the event and was a great encouragement for
all the participants and winners.
Beyond the thrill of competition, Ignite 2024 became a melting pot of unity and excellence, where
rivalries melted away in the heat of shared passion and dedication. As the final whistle blew and the
medals were awarded, it was clear that the event's triumph lay in the thrilling matches and the bonds
forged. Memories created, a testament to the transformative power of sports to unite, inspire, and
showcase the very best of human endeavor reflecting the hard work and commitment of all those who were
behind organizing such an event.
